Japheth is a Jamaican-American writer/director who was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He graduated from the University of Miami with a double major in film and theater before moving to LA, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
Japheth is drawn to stories that subvert expectations. He uses genre and the familiar structure of film and television as a creative framework to create strange worlds, unexpected protagonists, and sharp narrative twists. A hands-on showrunner, he works across every phase of the storytelling process, from first outline to final edit, with a DIY mindset that's built to scale for big budgets. Japheth has developed series for HBOmax, Pure Imagination Studios, and has been a writer at Disney Animation for four years, working on both their record-breaking films Moana 2 and Zootopia 2. |
